Bought and Paid For By ExxonMobil

On May 4, 2009, the Heritage Foundation held a panel titled “Busting the Myth of Green Jobs” to show that the experience of Spain is “more a cautionary tale than a blueprint for success.” Instead of showcasing the views of unbiased academics and economists, the Heritage Foundation put forth a panel of individuals financially connected to ExxonMobil.

September 9, 2011 at 4:25 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentIn case you happened to be wondering how all the corporate consolidated media manage to push conservative talking points and, in the process, sing together like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on Christmas, you only need to read this quotation from the web site of CEI, one of the Koch Brothers’ most precious front groups.
We craft and deploy media advocacy campaigns around that foundation of solid research in order to reach policy makers, influential opinion leaders, and grassroots activists. CEI policy analysts produce timely commentaries for major news organizations, appear on television and radio, and reach out to beat reporters covering our issues.

Three Charts to Email to Your Right-Wing Brother-In-Law | Truthout
September 8, 2011 at 11:24 am | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentDavid Johnson ought to get a statue somewhere between the Treasury building and the ACLU headquarters in Washington.
Here he pops another in-your-face reality check into the right wing BLAB-osphere, who will certainly ignore him at all costs:
The numbers in these [first] two charts come from Budget of the United States Government: Historical Tables Fiscal Year 2012. They are just the amounts that the government spent and borrowed, period. Anyone can go look then up. People who claim that Obama “tripled the deficit” are either misled or are trying to mislead.
Don’t get misled.

Maybe “Cave Man” has a Chance, After All
September 6, 2011 at 4:46 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentIs it possible that, as bad as his environmental record is, Obama might still gain the devoted support of the country’s homo sapiens population in the 2012 election?
If the Republicans nominate Shiva the Destroyer–or even Mitt Romney–the human population may come out in swarms for Obama out of self-defense on election day.Why Americans Are Uninformed
September 6, 2011 at 9:58 am | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentAmericans are uninformed about the history of their country, the state of their economy, and the proper function of our government and citizens’ role in it, partly because of the well-funded and expansive blanketing of public discourse with narratives like this:

September 1, 2011 at 11:22 am | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentThe “Cave Man” strikes again.
Kerri-Ann Jones, the assistant secretary of state, says,
“The sense we have is that the oil sands would be developed and there is not going to be any change in greenhouse gas emissions with the pipeline or without the pipeline because these oil sands will be developed anyway.”
I say, “You want leadership? Keep shopping!”
FoxNews.com Corporate Media Mudfight
September 1, 2011 at 10:40 am | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a commentAs the country continues to deteriorate the consolidated and enormously profitable corporate media — that substantively controls public discourse in the U.S.– is sustaining a meaningless level of discourse. This spares the networks from having to tell the hard, honest truth about the issues, such as the Pentagon, taxes, foreign trade, energy, etc…, as well as to spare the corporate-sponsored candidates the requirement of taking a substantive position on any substantive issue.
But, Americans “trust” the media and the politicians the media promote, so there is no impetus for meaningful national political discourse, let alone meaningful policy change.
Back to the days of “Silent” Calvin Coolidge, I guess.
With his focus on balancing the budget, cutting taxes, and decreasing the size and role of the federal government, Calvin Coolidge would be a dream candidate for the Republican Party here in the 21st century. “Perhaps one of the most important accomplishments of my administration has been minding my own business,” Coolidge said while President. Minding his own business came naturally to President Coolidge.
